X-Ray Flare Observed from Brown Dwarf

July 11, 2000   Using the Chandra X-ray Telescope, an international team of astronomers report that they have observed the first x-ray flare from a brown dwarf. This is surprising because the observed flare was many times more powerful than would normally be expected from a low mass object.
