TRACE Satellite Captures Spectacular
Images of Solar Flare

August 11, 2000  NASA's Transition Region and Coronal Explorer (TRACE) satellite has captured a series of remarkable images of a solar flare. The flare can be seen in the lower left-hand corner of the animated image below, but truly spectacular still photographs are available.
