Physicists May Be Seeing Evidence for the Elusive and Much Sought-After Higgs Boson Particle

September 7, 2000   The Higgs Boson is currently a hypothetical particle that would give other particles mass; it is thus believed to be an extraordinarily important particle.  Now four separate experimental groups, who are using the Large Electron-Proton (LEP) Collider, at the CERN international laboratory, have reported that they may be starting to see evidence that this particles does exist.  BBC Article.
